Tom Dumoulin Dutch cyclist of the year

In this years Tour de France, Tom was one of the favourites to take victory in the opening time trial on home soil in Utrecht, the Netherlands, but ultimately finished fourth.On stage 3, he was involved in a massive, high-speed crash and had to abandon the race.

Dumoulin recovered from his injuries to ride the 2015 Vuelta a España. In the Vuelta Dumoulin showed some of his class. The time trial specialist discovered himself with great rides in the mountain stages. He took the red jersey several times only to lose it during the last mountian stage of the Vuelta to Fabian Aru.

Because of his great results this year, Dumoulin was awarded with the title Limburg rider of the year. Wout Poels from team Sky and Mike Teunissen were also nominated. This is the second time that Dumoulin won this title which is being organised by the club24 (former pro-riders from Limburg). Dumoulin was also elected Dutch rider of the year by the audience of Wielerreveu).
